We believe that everyone deserves to live a healthy life. With only about half of the global population able to receive essential health services – a figure further exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic – there is much to be done to ensure sustainable access to medicines worldwide. Our inaugural Sustainability Report aims to continue introducing Viatris as a new kind of healthcare company, including our commitments to stakeholders as we seek to empower people worldwide to live healthier at every stage of life.

A partner for sustainable development

At Viatris, our efforts to increase access to healthcare through strong leadership and strategic partnerships are critical in helping to reduce barriers to good health and have the potential to leave a lasting, positive impact on patients, families and communities worldwide.

Because of the purposeful and active role that we believe companies must play in this effort, we support the UN Global Compact and the global sustainable development agenda for 2030, as articulated by the United Nations in the adoption of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in 2015.

Our mission and business model directly contribute to SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being, among others. By leveraging our diverse portfolio, global footprint and strategic partnerships, we have the potential to make a significant positive contribution in addressing the ongoing battle against infectious diseases and the global rise in the incidence of noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) as well as impacting key issues such as reproductive and women’s health. Viatris was officially formed on Nov. 16, 2020, through the combination of Mylan and Upjohn, a legacy division of Pfizer. We recently published our inaugural 2020 Sustainability Report.
